Britt Baker is a gender-neutral musician from the South. They (Britt's chosen pronoun) endured sexual predation by a stepfather and was ejected from the family by an evangelical mother who forced a confession that Britt was gay.
Leaving behind the repressive parental culture freed the fourteen-year-old to seek a college scholarship in music. Britt became an activist musician and songwriter. At 28, Britt lives joyfully as an itinerant musicologist hired by groups to help design protests; that is, when Britt is not performing with their own band in St. Louis.
